Printing the catalogue, or saving it as a PDF
What the printed sheet contains, how it is ordered, and how to turn it into a PDF with your browser.
Open the sale and choose The catalogue, ready to print. It opens as an ordinary page laid out as the sheet you would hand to the printer: a title block with the sale name, number, day, venue and currency, then each section in turn with its lots.
How it is ordered: section by section, in the order the house set them, and by lot number inside each section. A lot with no section comes last, under Not yet sectioned. Each entry shows the lot number, the title, the description, who consigned it, how many photographs are on the lot record, the condition and grade, and the estimate in square brackets at the end of the line. The sheet carries photograph counts, not the pictures.
Press Print / save as PDF. Your browser's print dialog opens. To print on paper, choose a printer. To make a file, choose Save as PDF as the destination, which is on every current browser and on phones through the Share menu. Choose the paper size and margins in the same dialog.
Two things to check before you print:
- Every lot on the sale is listed, including any still being written; those show their state on the line. If a lot should not go to the printer yet, get it to the right state first. See What a lot's state means.
- A lot with no estimate prints with "no estimate yet". Put an estimate on it first. See Estimates.
The sheet is the house's own working copy. Nothing on it is sent to bidders; you decide where it goes.
