Sublots like 27A
How to number a lot that belongs under another, and the rules for it.
A sublot is a lot that sits under another, such as 27A and 27B under lot 27: a pair of chairs sold separately, or pieces from one box. In the catalogue it follows 27 directly.
To write one at the desk, use the field Sublot of an existing lot on the lot screen and type the whole label, for example 27A. Leave the field empty for an ordinary lot, which takes the next whole number by itself.
The rules:
- Lot 27 must be there already. A sublot goes under a lot that is on the sale, or under a number a phone has booked. Lotdesk says "lot 27 is not in the sale yet" if it is not.
- Letters only after the number. A number, then up to four letters.
27Aand27ABare fine;27-1is not. - Ten characters at the most for the whole label, which is what the catalogue platforms accept.
- Typing a plain number is not accepted at the desk. The desk numbers whole lots itself, so that two cataloguers working at once never meet. Leave the field empty.
- A label is used once. If 27A already exists, a second 27A is turned down. Choose the next letter.
Capital or small letters both work; Lotdesk writes them in capitals. The label appears on the lot, in the catalogue, and in the Lot no. column of the CSV.
If a number is refused, A lot number was refused lists each sentence and the fix.
