Choosing a new password after forgetting it

How the "Forgot your password?" link works, how long a reset link lasts, and what to do if no email arrives.

On the sign-in page, choose Forgot your password? and give the email address you sign in with. That works the same for the house's own login and for a cataloguer's.

What happens next. If email is switched on for the service, a message with a link is sent to that address. The link:

At most three links an hour are sent for one address. When you save the new password, every sign-in you had ends: phones and browsers on the old password are signed out, and you sign in again with the new one. Lots already written but not yet sent stay on the phone.

For privacy the page gives the same answer whether or not the address has a login, so a message such as "If that address has a book, a link is on its way" does not mean one does. If nothing arrives, check the spam folder, then check the spelling of the address.

If the page says email isn't switched on for this service yet, it tells you so and offers to write to support. Do that from the address you sign in with and say you need the password reset. Never put a password in a message.

Lotdesk will never ask for your password by email. For other sign-in problems, see I can't sign in.

Not what you needed? Write to support@lotdesk.app, with the details in what to tell us.
